Platform Functionality & Capabilities

  1. What types of documents can I upload to DealSage?
DealSage accepts PDFs, Excel, and Word documents. PDFs are the most reliable, but Excel is also supported, even with some formatting variation.

  2. Can DealSage read scanned PDFs or image-based files?
Yes, DealSage includes OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to interpret image-based scans. While quality depends on the scan, it generally performs well.

  3. Can I model deals without using Excel?
Yes, DealSage has a built-in financial model. You can edit revenue, margins, CapEx, WC, debt terms, and instantly see impact on DSCR, IRR, FCF, etc., no spreadsheet needed.

  4. Does DealSage calculate working capital automatically?
Yes - we've added working capital modeling into DealSage features.

  5. Can I test multiple model scenarios?
Yes, you can save and compare different scenarios (e.g., 3.5x vs. 4x multiple, 10% vs. 20% seller note) side by side in a model comparison view.

  6. Does DealSage help generate IOIs and LOIs?
Absolutely. You can generate both IOIs and LOIs from easy-to-use inputs, or let the AI auto-draft the narrative sections based on your buyer profile and deal specifics.

  7. Can DealSage flag risks and missing diligence info?
Yes. DealSage highlights the top 10 risks in a deal, explains why they matter, and suggests mitigation strategies. It also builds a data request list when inputs are missing.

AI & Data Integrity

  1. How accurate is DealSage’s AI analysis?
Extremely reliable. Extraction has been tested thoroughly with checks and cross-verifications built in. If discrepancies are found, they’re flagged and traceable with source links.

  2. What AI model powers DealSage?
DealSage uses a developer-only OpenAI API, layered with proprietary logic. Your uploads are not used to train the model, they remain private and secure.

  3. Can I view the source behind extracted data points?
Yes. Every line item in the financial view has a clickable link to the source document (e.g., CIM, PDF page reference), enabling fast cross-checking.

  4. Does DealSage hallucinate answers like ChatGPT sometimes does?
Unlike general-purpose chatbots, DealSage builds logic chains to minimize hallucinations. It’s built specifically to interpret and validate deal documents, not just guess from context.

Customization & Collaboration

  1. Is the business score customizable?
Not yet, but it’s coming. Currently, the score is based on a standardized framework. A “myfit score” feature tailored to your preferences has been launched!

  2. Can I add custom adjustments to EBITDA or SDE?
Yes. You can manually add buyer or bank adjustments, remove invalid add-backs, and justify changes directly in the platform.

  3. Can I limit what team members or investors see?
Yes. You control access per user. Shared deals can be set to read-only, and team roles will have permission controls as they’re rolled out further.

  4. Can I export analysis or models from DealSage?
Not yet, but exports (e.g., CSVs or PDFs) are on the roadmap due to user demand.
